  • About the Programme

The MSc Accounting and Finance top- up degree is a fast-track course that will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your existing skills and knowledge of the sector at postgraduate level. The course will expose you to contemporary debates and technologies around current trends in accounting and finance, setting you up with new professional attributes suited to a wide range of industry roles. Those with fully qualified accounting status from prior study with the ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW only need to complete the final module from our regular degree to graduate with a master’s.

  • You must be a fully qualified as a member of a professional accounting body (such as the ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent professional body) within the past ten years.
  • IELTS 6.5 (no less than 6.0 in any element); or TOEFL iBT 90; or equivalent; Alternatively, we can accept evidence that you have previously studied in English.

Financial Management Project (60 credits)

Accounting and finance (financial management) is currently being transformed by new digitally enabled processes including digital ledgers, block chains, crypto currencies, cloud computing, and other fintech. These innovations create opportunities for organisations to transform financial management practices, garner competitive advantages, and improve operational efficiencies. The final financial management project gives you the opportunity to investigate one of these areas of new technology, practice, or accounting convention. You will be required to research your topic thoroughly using multiple sources, developing a research project that discusses the strategic contribution of the new technology or practice to the accounting and finance domain.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)


Our course is closely aligned with the knowledge and skills expected by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), helping to prepare you for further study with the institute. Graduates can apply directly to CIMA after completing this degree and may be able to claim exemptions, which are assessed by CIMA. The MSc also provides a strong academic foundation to progress towards CIMA’s professional pathways, supporting your career in management accounting.
Additionally, CIMA’s Gateway route gives our MSc graduates the opportunity to claim some exemptions and fast track their CIMA journey.

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

This course is designed in line with the Strategic Professional Level syllabus of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), giving you the advanced knowledge and skills to prepare for further study with ACCA. Graduates may also be able to claim exemptions, which are assessed directly by ACCA. By combining Arden assessments with the skills required by ACCA, you’ll be equipped to progress towards professional qualifications alongside your degree.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute is a global association of investment professionals that awards the CFA designation to candidates who successfully complete Levels I, II, and III of the CFA programme.
Our course e is recognised as a valid entry criterion for the CFA programme. This means that upon graduation, you’ll be eligible to apply for CFA and begin working towards one of the most respected qualifications in global investment and financial management.
